What We Believe – Our Statement of Faith

The Scriptures

We believe that the Old and New Testaments have been inspired or “breathed out” by God.  The Most High “superintended” or worked through human authors to bring us His message.  Thus the Bible is true, consistent, authoritative and well worthy of personal trust.

The Trune God

We believe in one God, creator of all things, always existing in 3 equally divine persons:  Father, Son and Spirit.

The Lord Jesus

We believe Jesus if fully God and fully man.  Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, was crucified, buried and rose bodily from the dead.  Jesus now intercedes for us, sits at the right hand of God the Father and serves as our High Priest.

Our Human Condition

We believe that mankind was created in the image of God.  Sadly, this image has been shattered by sin, not erased or removed.  Thus, every person is alienated from the God of life and is under condemnation; a sinner by nature and by choice.  However, at the same time, each person created by God, has inherent dignity and importance to God.

Our Salvation

We believe that God loves mankind intensely and provided a way for us to be reconciled to Him.  The way from death to life, from condemnation to salvation is only through having faith in Jesus as our Savior.  The Savior died in our place absorbing God’s wrath over our sin, so that we can be eternally forgiven.  Those who believe are credited by God with the righteousness of Christ.

Living the Christian Life

We believe that God wants our lives to reflect His holiness and bring Him glory.  Those who trust in Jesus are in the life-long process of being changed or conformed into Christ’s image.  Also, we are to obey God in everything as well as be eager for good works.  Thankfully, we are not alone in this wonderful but difficult work; the Holy Spirit indwells, empowers, guides and helps every believer.

The Last Things

We believe in the personal and bodily return of the Lord Jesus.  At some point in the future, all of mankind will be resurrected and stand before their maker for judgment.  Those who have been saved will enter into everlasting joy and blessedness.  Those who have not been saved will enter into everlasting punishment.
